I first worked with Ben while in development on a short film. We met at a diner, and before I knew what was happening, Ben was wildly scribbling giant notes on the back of a placemat -- buzzing with brilliant new directions we could push our concept. Over the past six years, its been a gift to repeatedly collaborate with and learn from Ben. He’s the first person I call with a seed of any new idea. His mix of brutal honesty and undying, frenetic optimism makes Ben irreplaceable. He’ll help you shape what you’re passionate about, and he’ll make sure you believe you can actually do it. Ben is the best.

I had never considered writing before and was really excited about the prospect of creating my own work. After one session with Ben, I was on my way. He somehow knows the right questions to ask to break down your mental road blocks and push you forward. He then teaches you how to strategize and ask these questions for yourself so that the work can continue. He understands that the creative process can be daunting and he takes the mystery away. He knows it's frustrating and makes it enjoyable. He realizes that there's a certain vulnerability required and he creates a safe space to work and explore.

Ben Edelman is really something of a treasure. In my establishing year in the industry, there was no audition I went out for without first working with him. What makes Edelman a good coach is his astute eye, developed well beyond his years, his accessible notes, delivered to the point and without abstractions, and his broad knowledge base, which always finds a way to come in handy no matter the material. What makes Ben a great coach, however, is by and far his enthusiasm and absolute surrender to the task at hand. Ben gives all of himself during sessions, and the energy, positivity, and enforcement is invaluable. I met Edelman while we were acting at Carnegie Mellon University, and soon realized that his abilities were something quite special, surpassing professors. I have complete faith in his word, and urge you to work with him.

Ben Edelman has a genuine interest in seeing you pursue your dreams. He gets jazzed about what you are jazzed about. He tries to learn more about what makes you tick. He is fiercely smart and even more compassionate--Ben forces you to face the things you are too scared to face on your own, while never making you feel dumb for previously tackling them. He puts himself in your corner, and you are happy to have him there. Some people just belong in your life, and Ben is one of them.
