Benjamin Edelman is a New York-based Obie Award–winning actor whose work spans stage and screen, with a creator practice in directing, producing, writing, and artist-built institutions.He made his West End debut in Joshua Harmon’s Admissions, reprising the role he originated at Lincoln Center Theater. The performance earned him an Obie Award, the Dorothy Loudon Award for Excellence in the Theater, and a Drama Desk nomination for acting. He later played Max opposite Jessica Hecht, alternating with Zane Pais, in Letters from Max, a ritual at Signature Theatre, and received a second Drama Desk nomination, for music. Additional credits include The Gett at Rattlestick, The Chosen at Long Wharf Theatre, Significant Other on Broadway and at Roundabout as understudy for Jordan Berman, and The Good Wife, BrainDead, and Instinct on television.His work behind the camera grows from an actor’s attention to performance. Edelman directed the completed 79-minute narrative feature Dolphin Flip, an official selection of the 2026 Forest City Film Festival, and co-directed and produced Elizabeth Colarte’s As Good as It Gets, which premiered at the 2024 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. His producing credits include Your Friend, Memphis, which premiered at SXSW 2022 and was acquired and released by Greenwich Entertainment; Nightbirds; and Operation Warp Speed. His television work in development includes the Untitled Jewish Gangster TV Project.Edelman co-founded The Commonground in 2017 and serves as its Co-Executive Director alongside Morgan Wolk. Across two 2026 RE/VENUE NYC festival cycles, he helped program 29 projects across 35 scheduled performance slots and generate $29,484.86 in combined net ticket sales.
